Career Highlights

1993 - First mini-moto race.

1994 - Runner up in the Madrid Mini-moto championship

1995-1997 - Madrid Mini-moto Champion

1997 - 50cc Aprilia Cup. First podium, finishing the season in sixth place.

1998 - 50cc Aprilia Cup. Two more podiums and ending the season in third place. Chosen from over 4000 applicants for the famous Movistar Activa Joven Cup in 1999.

1999 - Movistar Activa Joven Cup. Fifth place, in front of Dani Pedrosa, earning him a second year in the Cup and a spot as a back-up rider for the 125cc Spanish Championship

2000 - Movistar Cup. One podium, ninth place (due to being sidelined through injury)

2001 - 125cc Spanish Championship.

2002 - 125cc Spanish Championship with Atlético de Madrid team. Runner-up in the championship. First international competition. 125cc European Championship podium at Assen and a fourth place in Hungary. Also competed in four 125cc World Championship races as a wildcard

2003 - 125cc World Championship. 20th place. Best finish fourth at Phillip Island and a sixth at Valencia. The same year crowned Spanish Champion with two races to go after an extremely dominant season, never being off the podium and with five consecutive pole-to-victory finishes.

2004 - 125cc World Championship. Seventh place overall. Four podiums

2005- 125cc World Championship. 15th place.

2006 - 125cc World Championship. World Champion. First 125cc race win. Eight victories and only off the podium twice during the whole year With eight pole positions, seven fastest laps and 338 points during an almost perfect season

2007 – 250cc World Championship. First 250cc wins and podiums. Fourth position overall and won the FIM ‘Rookie of the Year’ award.

2008 - 250cc World Championship runner-up. Ten consecutive podiums and a total of four wins

2009 - 250cc World Championship. Two victories and seven further podiums. Fourth overall in the championship

2010 - Debut in MotoGP class. Best results were fifth place in Catalunya and Sepang. Scored a number of top-10 finishes during the second-half of his rookie year. Finished in 13th place overall in MotoGP World Championship.
